Arab Mining Company signed two memorandums of understanding with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to explore for lithium in the Feynan area in Wadi Araba and for gold in the Jabal Mubarak area in Aqaba Governorate.
The two memorandums were signed by His Excellency Dr. Saleh Kharabsheh, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, and Mr. Hassan Al-Takrouri, General Director of Arab Mining Company.
Mr. Hassan Al-Takrouri said that the two memorandums of understanding confirm the company's direction towards expanding investment in the field of mining in Jordan after previous successful experiences in the Kingdom, praising the cooperation with the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
Arab Mining Company submitted earlier to the Ministry of Energy a letter of interest in which it expressed its desire to conduct prospecting studies to assess the economic feasibility of lithium ore and gold in the south of the Kingdom through the direct supply of strategic ores, as the company's file was studied by the technical committees in the Ministry of Energy and the evaluation of the technical and financial solvency of the company.
His Excellency Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh said that the 12-month memorandum of understanding for the exploitation of gold in the Jabal Al-Mubarak area allows the Arab Mining Company to explore for lithium in an area of 50 square kilometers by conducting geological studies and a geological survey of the exploration area, except for areas within the boundaries of natural and archaeological reserves. and geological.
About the 12-month memorandum of understanding for lithium exploration, His Excellency Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh indicated that it allows Arab Mining Company to conduct exploration and excavation operations on a land of 35 square kilometers, except for areas located within the boundaries of natural, archaeological, and geological reserves.
The minister stressed the importance of the two memorandums within the framework of the efforts of the Ministry of Energy to restore momentum to the mining sector as one of the sectors defined by the economic modernization plan as having high industrial value and work is underway to double its contribution to the gross domestic product based on the hoped-for results that have been reached so far through the ministry signing 7 memorandums of understanding in the field of mining.
He stressed that the ministry gives priority at this stage to the mining sector due to its importance in providing the national economy with added value and expanding job opportunities in a way that contributes to efforts to achieve sustainable development, praising the cooperation with Arab Mining Company, which has experience in the field of mining.
