Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources' inspection visit to the phosphate exploration project in Ruwaished

His Excellency the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, inspected visit, on Thursday 12/12/2024, to the drilling and exploration areas for phosphate ores southeast of the city of Ruwaished, which are granted to the Arab Mining Company under the memorandum of understanding signed between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the company.

His Excellency explained, during the tour, that drilling and sample collection work is carried out by international companies and according to precise scientific standards that ensure obtaining the best results, and that mining projects are gaining great importance for their role in economic development in response to the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision, which attached great importance to the mining sector and the exploitation of mineral resources.

 

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Arab Mining Company in April 2023 over an area of 306 km2, where a detailed exploration program was implemented, including drilling 5 exploratory trenches and no less than 74 exploratory wells, including 70 clastic wells estimated at 2060 meters in total,

 

while 4 core wells were drilled with a total of more than fifty meters. At least 3568 samples were collected and sent to international laboratories in Turkey for analysis, and their results are expected to arrive in the coming weeks to determine the quality of phosphate in the study area. Work is still underway to drill wells and collect more samples to reach high-purity phosphate ores.
