Since its establishment, Arab Mining Company has been engaged in many investment activities, including 24 mining, industrial and commercial investing projects in more than ten Arab countries. The amount of money invested in such projects has increased to more than (314) million Kuwaiti Dinars.
During the first period, since the establishment of the Company and until 1986, most of the Company’s investment projects gave priority to development considerations located in Arab countries which have promising metal ores and the lack of funding resources for exploitation.
The first period was affected by the impact of the global economic crises as many of the ores, metals, and fertilizer minerals prices dropped. The results of a number of contributions by the Arab Mining Company showed major losses which reflected on the financial results during that period.
In light of the results of contributions performance and projects invested in the first period,( the Company, in the second period which is after 1986 and up to this moment) decided to reconsider its investment policy through the following:
- Identify the Company’s capital through the amount paid by shareholders of (54.47) million Kuwaiti Dinars out of the nominal capital of (120) million Kuwaiti Dinars and the subscribed capital of (112.2) million Kuwaiti Dinars. This has been under the General Assembly decision in its extraordinary meeting on 28/8/1994.
- Review Investment projects and following up on existing projects and addressing the situation of each separately; dispose the burden of non-performing and non-efficient projects and not to hold the Company responsible for any extra financial burdens.
- Not enter any new contributions before evaluating them and ensuring their proven feasibility in terms of technical, economic and financial aspects, according to the certified principles and investment criteria by the Arab Mining Company.
- Spread investment tools to improve the return of the invested capital within acceptable risk limits.
- Contribute to studies’ costs of some on the projects that have available data and encouraging indicators, through cooperating with potential strategic partners for these projects.
- Obtain permissions for exploration, discovery, and utilization of ores which form the strategic value of the Company, particularly ores that supply the numbers of mining industries in the companies that Arab Mining Company is contributed in.
